All About Lady Ray

I come from a musical family with deep roots in New Orleans and have been  a singer and performer since the age of 14. I studied classical voice privately with Ruth Price Silva (Portsmouth, New Hampshire) and Kathleen Spillane at the University of New Hampshire. In addition, I was also a student of Rebecca Shrimpton (jazz) at the New England Conservatory. I worked in local and regional theater for 15 years in Maine and New Hampshire. 

 

I am devoted to singing jazz standards from the American Songbook and Tin Pan Alley. My  repertoire includes jazz standards, cabaret, show tunes, and bossa nova. I sing in several languages including French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. 

My husband and I divide our time between New Orleans and Boston, where I perform in both cities. I have worked at  the Little Gem Saloon, Cafe Istanbul, Hammond Cultural Arts Center, Old Point Bar, and Buffa's Backroom in New Orleans; Ryles, Cafe Tango, The Third Life Studio, The Lilypad, Somerville Porch Fest, The New School, and Cuisine en Locale (Cambridge and Somerville, MA).

RMS Jazz Ensemble is a 2-3 piece jazz combo with vocalist, Raynel Shepard.  Available for corporate functions, birthdays, weddings, fund raisers or other special occasions. Let me entertain you!
